QUETTA: Secretary Health Abdullah Khan said that the mission is to eradicate polio from Balochistan.  

Secretary Health Abdullah Khan launched the 7-day polio campaign by administering polio drops to children at the Emergency Operations Center Commissioner’s Office on Monday. Emergency Operations Center Balochistan Coordinator Zahid Shah was also present.

Speaking to the media, Secretary Health Abdullah Khan said that the mission to eradicate polio from Balochistan is ongoing, and they will not allow the polio virus to resurface in Balochistan. There is a strong determination to protect children from lifelong disabilities with the cooperation of polio workers and parents. After three years, two cases of polio were reported from Chaman and Dera Bugti in the province.

The seven-day polio eradication campaign starts today in 30 districts of the province. During the campaign, more than 2.395 million children will be administered polio drops. More than 10,000 teams will go door-to-door to administer drops to children under five years of age.

Secretary Health Abdullah Khan said that we have resolved not to sit idle until polio is eradicated from the province. Parents are urged to complete the course of protective vaccines for their children along with polio vaccines so that they can be protected from polio, pneumonia, and other dangerous diseases.
