In this book, we meet Troy Bolton, the captain of the basketball team, and Gabriella Montez, an academically gifted transfer student, each with their own interests. However, their lives take a turn when they meet during a New Year’s event, fall in love, and discover their shared passion for music. Upon returning to school, they decide to audition for the school musical. Meanwhile, Sharpay Evans, driven by jealousy, attempts to keep them apart and away from music.
