Turbat, along with other parts of Makran, including Tajaban, Hoshab, Hirronk, and various other areas, experienced heavy rainfall on June 10, accompanied by strong winds from the east. Unfortunately, the rain in Turbat often brings about a series of issues, preventing the locals from fully enjoying this natural phenomenon.

Recent downpours have caused significant distress, with accidents being a direct consequence of the slippery roads.

Personally witnessing the aftermath of the rainfall, I found myself in the market amidst the pouring rain. The streets resembled miniature canals, as water flowed relentlessly from one side to the other. These treacherous conditions led to a minor accident involving two motorbikes. Fortunately, no injuries were sustained, and bystanders immediately rushed to the scene, offering assistance to the riders and ensuring that any damages were promptly addressed. The bikes were carefully moved aside, and the riders were taken to the nearest shop to rest and recover. The accident occurred when an elderly man lost control of his bike due to the slippery surface, causing the second biker to fall as well.
Curious about the incident, I approached the scene to gather more information. Thankfully, there was no sign of bleeding, so I inquired about what happened. The elderly man admitted fault, stating, “I was about to take a turn to go home when suddenly the front tire of my bike slipped. Unable to regain control, I fell to the ground. It was my mistake, not the second biker’s.”
The other rider responded, “I had no time to react or avoid this unfortunate accident. Sometimes, circumstances are decided by a higher power, so neither of us is at fault.”
Sadly, accidents like these are not uncommon after heavy rainfall in Turbat, leaving residents to contend with the consequences.
Furthermore, Turbat recently endured scorching temperatures, reaching a record high of 53.7 degrees Celsius, earning it the title of the fourth hottest place on Earth. When clouds appeared on the horizon, electricians swiftly cut off Turbat’s power supply. The absence of electricity plunged residents into an unbearable situation, given the extreme heat, resulting in more than five people fainting from the oppressive conditions daily.
The lack of electricity also facilitates the rapid spread of diseases like dengue and malaria, as essential mosquito-killing machines remain inactive. Turbat is currently battling a peak in these virus outbreaks, with the absence of power exacerbating the situation further.
These recurrent issues persist whenever rain graces Turbat with its presence.
Consequently, it is imperative for the government to address these problems and take proactive measures to protect its citizens. Turbat’s residents deserve to enjoy the rains without being subjected to the miseries faced by the unfortunate bikers and distressed families.
