Child abuse is a serious problem that involves mistreatment by an adult or another child. Physical abuse is not only in the category of child abuse but child neglect, sexual abuse, and emotional abuse can cause as much damage. Children who have experienced abuse can suffer from various physical and psychological issues.

Well said by Dave Pelzer that “childhood should be carefree, playing in the sun not living a nightmare in the darkness of the soul”.

Around 550,000 children are abused annually in Pakistan article 37(A) of the convention state that “no child shall be subjected to torture or other cruel inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment”.

In 1989 the UN adopted the Convention on the right of the Child which recognizes the right of children to be protected from all forms of violence, abuse, and neglect as estimated 1 billion children worldwide go through physical, sexual, and emotional violence each year.

In addition to reporting suspected abuse, there are other things that you can do to help prevent child abuse. These include supporting families and providing resources to help them meet their children’s needs, promoting positive parenting practices, and educating the public about the signs of child abuse and how to report it. By working together, we can help create a safer and more supportive environment for all children.
