Since the inception, Pakistan has suffered from innumerable menaces, but penury is considered one of the worst phenomena. There exists umpteenth securing projects, but our political leaders lack management and give no attention toward common masses.

Each year millions to billions of funds are allocated for poor individuality, unfortunately only 5 to 10 percent funds are hardly received by the poor.

According to various reports, more than 40 million people live below the poverty line and 30 million among them are inhabitants of rural areas. The Asian Development Bank reported, penury is on the upswing in Pakistan due to the rising population, internal situation, agriculture backwardness, corruption, unequal distribution of income and so forth. The poor masses are compelled to think of their survival only due to poverty and joblessness. Most of the parents favor sending their children to work instead of sending them to schools. They make them do so to support their family and exploit them as earning hands from early age.

The government has been feeble to provide employed opportunities to the common individuality. The existing unemployment rate is almost 15 percent. Thousands of graduated students are searching for jobs but toppled to receive volitions and the government is abortive to utilize their abilities in the right direction. Our country faces the menace of brain drain due to unemployment because we are unable to utilize their precious hands for the prosperity of the nation. Asides from this, talented and sharp minded intellectuals are ignored and thwarted to their capacities for development.

The conditions were already worsening that the monsoon rains with floods crippled the agriculture sector and spawned more complexities for the farmers. Millions of poor are without shelter and persistently suffering through waist-deep. The floods came exactly when the crops in the fields were ready to harvest said by the farmer.

The situation pushed them into poverty as most of them are in debt due to high interest rates on loans to buy farm inputs such as fertilizers, pesticides and seeds. The experts have estimated that the damages will be felt throughout the country for months and years to come.

A poor person named M. Ashraf reported that he has three children but persistently suffering to feed his family. His only wish is to fulfill the requirements of his children and enroll them in a quality school to educate them.

A poor woman named Aamina without parents and two smaller siblings, sells materials in short stalls to feed her sibling. Unfortunately, instead of supporting, the people tease and harass her in various ways. People talk with disrespect and demand for numbers and marriage as well.

The concerned authorities need to step ahead for the aid of the poor masses. The government should provide education, justice and equality, equal distribution of wealth resources, producing employment opportunities, substantial economic growth and so on.
