Arshad Sharif PP was a Pakistani journalist, author, and television news host who lived from 22 February 1973 to 23 October 2022 Arshad Sharif was born in Karachi, Pakistan, to Muhammad Sharif, a commander in the Pakistan Navy.

He was an expert in investigative reporting and covered numerous political events in the nation for regional, national, and even international news organizations, such as the UK. He received the Pride of Performance award from Pakistani President Arif Alvi on March 23, 2019, in recognition of his contributions to journalism. Arshad Sharif, a Pakistani journalist, was shot and killed by police on Sunday night (October 23) in Nairobi, Kenya, which alarmed and outraged Pakistan.

According to a senior police officer quoted in the Kenyan Newspaper The Star, the shooting is being investigated as a case of mistaken identity, according to Reuters. An officer fatally shot Sharif on Sunday in a remote area outside the Kenyan capital Nairobi, according to a statement from the police and his wife, Javeria Siddique, who confirmed the death on Twitter on Monday.

While still a student, he started his freelance journalism career in 1993. Quaid-i-Azam University in Islamabad is where he earned his Master of Science in Public Administration degree. Sharif specialized throughout the defense and foreign policy and covered conflicts in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas. From London, Paris, Strasbourg, and Kiel, he provided news coverage for prominent Pakistani news organizations. He was the 2012 Agahi Award winner. The 2016 Investigative Journalist of the Year Award went to Sharif as the anchor and Adeel Raja as the producer for the programme Power play. Agahi’s Peoples’ Choice Awards: Favorite Current Affairs Anchor – Male went to Sharif in 2018. In 2014, he debuted his ARY News programme Power Play. Additionally, Sharif served as Director of News for AAJ News and Dunya TV. In 2011, he served as the bureau chief for Dawn News. After being accused of several things, including sedition over an interview during which the latter had made debatable remarks, Sharif fled Pakistan in August 2022 to avoid being arrested. Sharif allegedly fled to Dubai and then Kenya due to threats to his life.
