Overloading is the main cause of traffic accidents in a developing country like Pakistan.  As soon as they go out on the highways, vehicles full of passengers and goods are inviting, in this, the motorcyclists also do their work diligently which makes it very difficult for other riders on the road. Especially those who want to overtake, because of the motorcyclists, this phase is like bringing the lion’s share to them.

A motorcycle is designed for a maximum of two people but many times 4 to 5 people are seen riding it which makes it very difficult to maintain balance and accidents happen. Apart from this, the motorcycle is also used for carrying goods, which is a danger on the road and causes traffic accidents. The trend of overloading in public transport is very common in Pakistan, but this overloading is not only based on goods, but overloading in public transport refers to overcrowding of passengers in vehicles and this problem becomes very serious. As the daily increase in traffic accidents is enough to convey the seriousness of the situation, the situation of minibuses is also similar, packed with passengers and goods, which gives an impression of fear.  Whether it is villages or cities, passengers are seen hanging from the roofs and doors of buses everywhere. In greed for money, conductors push passengers into buses without caring about the place. The situation of long vehicles is worst. Which are usually overloaded.  If their capacity is up to a few tons, they will be able to carry many times more than that.  Trucks will also be found fully loaded. Which surround the entire road. Other vehicles have to wait to overtake these overloaded trucks. If one wants to overtake these trucks at night, it becomes a gamble as most of the trucks are driving without headlights and side indicators.

In villages, they are loaded with grains, crops and sugarcane. They are found to be overloaded with this stuff. Trolleys are usually seen on roads at night without headlights and side indicators in plain sight.  They have to be seen in towns and urban areas as well and often cause road accidents, especially at night if their tire bursts or gets punctured, the entire road is affected from both sides. Then until the surrounding space is empty or the puncture occurs, other traffic suffers.  It is also pertinent to mention here that explosives, drugs and other contraband can easily be transported in these trolleys.  Preventing the delivery of such dangerous materials to cities through these trolleys is a difficult task.  Due to this, there is a huge loss of life.  In all these problems, the concerned authorities and the government do not seem to take any serious steps.  Every day these trolleys are seen in cities loaded with soil, mortar and other construction materials.  Due to this the highways, streets and surrounding areas remain closed;  Along with damaging the surrounding roads, it also creates pollution, but there is room for the higher authorities to crawl to the ear. It is important to understand that the government’s policy regarding overloaded vehicles is not at all appropriate.  Government agencies do not consider overloaded baggage to be a serious problem.  However, overloading is causing loss of human life and property as it does not affect any government official or very rarely, so it is not a problem at all for them.  Which shows that there is a gap between society and the state. This reflects that the state does not care about the health or life of the people. What can be done in this unfortunate situation?  In this matter, the citizens have to take the initiative and raise their voices to the authorities.  They should force the government to ban overloaded vehicles from the highways. The use of side indicators along with proper headlights should be made mandatory for all types of vehicles. People should be made aware of this problem. They have to unite and raise their voices on the seriousness of this problem.  Policymakers should legislate strictly on this issue. Entry of overloaded vehicles on motorways and highways should be prohibited.  Concerned bodies should impose fines on overloaded vehicles to avoid the loss of precious lives.
