Quetta: A heavy contingent of Hub and Karachi police, along with ladies police, conducted a raid at the residence of Sardar Muhammad Saleh Bhootani, former caretaker chief and provincial president of the Balochistan Awami Party in DHA, Karachi, on Sunday.

The former speaker of the Balochistan Assembly and MNA, Muhammad Aslam Bhootani, who is the younger brother of senior Bhootani, said in a statement that his elder brother had moved into this house just two months ago.

Police barged into the house, smashed windows and glass, and forcefully took away four of his guards who were present inside the house. He said that after this, the same police party raided the rented house where Saleh Bhootani was currently residing.

“Despite him informing the police that his sons were not at home, they continued their search,” the former speaker said. He claimed that all this is happening without any just cause.

“My only ‘crime’ was protecting the 15,000 acres of land of the people in the Winder Dam command area, which was illegally acquired by influential people under benami transactions,” Aslam Bhootani claimed and added that he fought for justice through the Balochistan High Court and succeeded in protecting the people’s land. He said that he had no enmity against anyone.
