QUETTA: The Balochistan government lifted the ban on transfer and posting in the government departments with immediate effect and changed some deputy commissions, assistant commissioners and other officials.

The ban was imposed by the election commission of Pakistan after releasing the election schedule for the February 8, elections and had made many transfers and postings, including Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, secretaries and senior police officers to ensure transparent elections in the province.

The Balochistan Chief Minister, Mir Sarfraz Ahmed  Bugti took oath of his office on March 2, but despite passage of about two months the cabinet could not make a decision which delayed lifting the ban on posting and transfers in the government departments.

However, after the elections the caretaker government made many postings and transfers, including commissioners, deputy commissioners, secretaries and police officers.

However, after taking oath of the 14 members’ cabinet, the Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti imposed a ban on the transfer and postings on March 13, till further orders. Officials said that now the Chief Minister has  decided to lift the ban on the posting and transfers as the ministers wanted to choose secretaries and other officers of their departments of their own.

A notification issued by the Service and General Administration department (S&GAD) here on Thursday announced the lifting of a ban on transfer and postings.

It said that the Chief Minister Balochistan has pleaded to lift the ban imposed on all kinds of transfer and posting in the entire province upto BPS-21vide this department’s circular of even number letter number darted 13th March, 2024with immediate effect.
