QUETTA: Chief Minister of Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti has said 600 to 1000 houses are being built in the Hanna Urak area of Quetta under the UNDP grant, which can withstand earthquakes of up to 8.

He expressed these views while talking to the media at the inauguration of the housing project constructed with the cooperation of UNDP at the PDMA office on Thursday.

The Chief Minister said 600 to 1000 houses are being built in the Hana Urak area of Quetta under the UNDP grant, which can withstand earthquakes of up to 8. He said that the registration of workers is being increased for the welfare of laborers. At present, 19,000 laborers are registered in the province.

The government is providing scholarships to 500 children of labor workers for higher education through the Workers Welfare Fund. Meanwhile, 30,000 youths of the province will be trained in skills and sent abroad to create opportunities not only for themselves but also for their families and the country.

He said that the Motorway Police has established a driving license authority in Quetta whose license is recognized worldwide. He said that under a public-private partnership, the government of Balochistan will establish driving license schools where Arabic, French, and English languages will also be taught so that our youth can go to different countries and create employment opportunities for themselves.

In response to a question, the Chief Minister said that houses will be built soon with the federal government grant for the rehabilitation of flood victims in Balochistan. Infrastructure, and roads will also be built from flood relief funds. He said that Balochistan is a unit of the federation, we stand with the federal government’s decisions, and we will talk to the federation about our issues.

The Chief Minister said that there are encroachments on 62  naullas in Quetta, and mosques have been built on Naullas. What kind of justice is this? A campaign will be launched to curb encroachments in the city.

A project will be launched to lift garbage in the city under the public-private partnership to collect garbage from the houses of citizens and dispose of it. In response to a question, the Chief Minister said that efforts are underway to eliminate corruption. Ministers have been given departments, after which they are working for betterment in those departments. Field officers will face action if they are not in the field. He said that talks had been held with the federal and Sindh governments on illegal trawling in coastal areas. Chief Minister Sindh has given directions to the concerned departments. Both provinces’ fisheries departments will formulate a plan of action regarding this issue. He said that the government will not compromise on the rights of Balochistan
