QUETTA: Nine candidates of six parliamentary parties have been elected senators unopposed from Balochistan and now election will be held on only two seats reserved for technocrats on April 2, in Balochistan.

Twenty out of the total 33 senate candidates had withdrawn their nomination papers on Wednesday which was the last date for withdrawal of nomination papers.

According to the Provincial Election Commissioner, Balochistan after withdrawal of 20 candidates 13 had left for contesting election on seven general and two technocrat seats while on two reserved seats.

After the withdrawal of five female candidates, two female candidates remained in the field to contest the election. The Election Commissioner Balochistan said on Thursday and declared Ms. Rahat Faiq Jamali and Hussna Bibi of PPP senator elect unopposed.

There were eight candidates left on seven general seats from PPP, PML-N, JUI-F, ANP, National Party, and an independent after withdrawal of other candidates.

However, the PPPP candidate Ejaz Ahmed has tendered his retirement from the senate election on Thursday after which remaining seven candidates were elected senator unopposed on seven general seats.

Provincial Election Commissioner, Balochistan Muhammad Fareed Afridi has declared seven candidates, including Saydal Khan Nasar (PML-N), Agha Shahzeb Durrani (PML-N), Sardar Umar Gorgage (PPPP), Jan Muhammad Buledi (NP), Ahmed Khan Khilji (JUI-F), Amil Wali Khan (ANP) and Anwar-Ul- Haq Kakar ( independent ) senator elect unopposed.

However, according to the final list of the senate candidates three candidates have left on two reserved seats for technocrats in Balochistan, including Muhammad Bilal Mandokhail (PPPP) Maulana Abdul Wasey (JUI-F) and Masleh-Uddin and independent candidates.

However, efforts were underway to agree Masleh-Uddin for retirement from the election.
