Bolan Medical Complex, the largest public sector hospital of Balochistan Province. Bolan Medical Complex Hospital in Quetta, established in 2000 and graded as a tertiary concern hospital of the province, lacks basic facilities like standard labs and consistency of their investigations.

Bolan medical complex doctors do not pay attention to even those patients whose condition need serious attention and when attendants try to draw their attention, these doctors often resort to using foul language with them. The patients have no option other than to go to private hospitals. Doctors have their own private clinics and laboratories as part-time businesses.

Mostly Government hospital doctors sit on their private clinics just for earning money and for business purposes. The poor people can’t afford the charges and fees of private hospitals. Their last hope is the Government hospitals but the deteriorating Government hospitals condition can be seen.

Many patients or families belonging to the rural areas of Balochistan face plenty of difficulties. Firstly, in many areas, there are no hospitals, and not a good transport facility to reach the city hospitals well in time. If in any area, there is any hospital they lack the availability of trained doctors and paramedical staff and lack of drugs too.

In one such incident that took place on Thursday In the neurology department, Doctors are fighting for the chair with the patient attendant like politicians. An important issue of the healthcare system in terms of misconduct and misbehaviour of paramedical and supporting staff working in government hospitals is always ignored.

Whenever patients and their attendants complain about doctors, everyone lashes out at doctors, but when patients scream at the brutal behaviour of paramedics, all the healthcare machinery and others focus on hushing up the matter. The neurology department needs to be upgraded where qualified staff should be posted for immediate management of serious patients. There is no ICU at the hospital, as a result of which serious patients suffer greatly.

Our Government is spending a lot of money on improving the conditions of hospitals; the Balochistan government had allocated Rs. 32 billion for the health sector during the budget for the financial year 2020-2021. Despite this huge amount, people continue to complain about the lack of medicines, machinery, and doctors. It asked all deputy commissioners, medical superintendents, to take departmental action against doctors.

Their efforts are laudable but in my opinion, there should also be some drive or campaign to improve the behaviour of paramedics. After all, they have to deal with ailing humanity’ but their current behaviour is undesirable even for ‘healthy humanity.I appeal to the health minister, and the chief minister to resolve these issues.
