QUETTA: Provincial Minister for Irrigation Nawabzada Tariq Khan Magsi has said that Jhal Magsi has been badly affected by the floods caused by recent monsoon rain as 07 people have died and hundreds of people turned homeless.

“The recent monsoon has caused heavy rains in different parts of the province and In particular, the Dera Bugti mountain ranges and the floodwaters of the Mulla River have wreaked havoc in other areas, including Jhal Magsi.” Nawabzada Tariq Magsi said while talking to reporters on Thursday.

“Agricultural crops in the area were completely flooded, hundreds of mud houses have been destroyed while the provincial government has declared emergency in two tehsils of Jhal Magsi.”

Mr. Magsi further said, PDMA and district administration are engaged in relief activities but they are limited due to standing water hence we have to intensify relief operation in flood hit areas of district Jhal Magsi,

“As transportation is restored, the damage will be surveyed and all possible help will be given to the victims,” Nawabzada Tariq Magsi pledged.

“In order to deal with these emergency like situations in future,  it is very important to build small and big dams in the whole province because only through dams flood water can be prevented and this water can be made useful.” The Provincial Minister added.
