QUETTA: Inspector General Prison Malik Muhammad Yousaf has emphasized on need of rectification of prisoners incarcerated in provincial jails adding self-discipline as important tool for discouragement of criminal activities in society.

QUETTA: Inspector General Prison Malik Muhammad Yousaf has emphasized on need of rectification of prisoners incarcerated in provincial jails adding self-discipline as important tool for discouragement of criminal activities in society.

He shared these views on Wednesday while addressing two-day workshop conducted by Federal Ombudsman, Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industries, UNICEF and National Commission for Children in order to impart self-discipline training to the staff and officers of Prison department.

“The prisoners completing their sentences should be treated with love and respect because they have right of improvement.” IG Prison Balochistan Malik Muhammad Yousaf said.

He expressed astonishment over the plight of provincial prisons since he took charge as IG prison adding unfortunately provincial prisons were plagued with myriad of woes,

“Rules and Regulations remained the prime issue of provincial jails but Provincial Prison department taking measures to address all issues on priority level.” He said stressed upon his staff and officers to pursue self-discipline.

He called prisoners as most suppresses people of the society added instead of snubbing them we need to accept them with respect and love because neglecting them is tantamount of hanging them.

“Criminals often do crime surreptitiously but in prisons the illicit practices are different hence our staff and officers should maintain rules and regulations.” IG Prison said.

He also cited the recent operation inside Central Jail Quetta added we have recovered huge cache of drugs and illegal goods from their possession, “One Journalist asked me that how these drugs reached inside the prison but instead of replying him I have transferred hundreds of staff members over negligence and corrupt practices.”
